Generative AI Transparency: Identification of Machine-Generated content

Generative AI is a cutting-edge field of AI that can create realistic human-like content. Concerns over its misuse and societal implications highlight the importance of identifying machine-generated content.

This science for policy brief explores solutions to such identification and concludes that they should possess the following four properties: efficiency, integrity of data, robustness to content alteration, and protection against manipulation. It also highlights that current technical solutions do not sufficiently fulfil these requirements for text, audio, video and image content.

The brief is authored by JRC scientists and you can find it here.
