About the AI Watch project
AI Watch started as a European Commission knowledge service created to monitor the development, uptake and impact of AI in Europe, operational between 2018 and 2022.
This initiative monitored:
- industrial, technological and research capacity on AI in the European Union
- AI-related policy initiatives in the Member States
- uptake and technical developments of AI
- AI impact
AI Watch was developed by the JRC in collaboration with the Directorate‑General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT).
Since the inception of AI Watch, the JRC’s AI research work has broadened in scope. The AI Watch Portal today is the point of reference of all the latest JRC research on Artificial Intelligence.
