Biography
Francesca Campolongo is the Head of the ‘Finance & Economy’ Unit of the European Commission Joint Research Centre, and since 2021 she is Deputy Director of the “Growth and Innovation” Department.
She has been working at the JRC since 1998, and she is currently participating to the Joint Research Centre Task Force for the Ukraine crisis response.
As background Francesca is a mathematician (she graduated in Pisa University, Italy) with a PhD in modelling and sensitivity analysis (Griffith University, Australia).
Since 2011 she has been leading her team involved in macroeconomic and financial activities. In the past years she has been actively involved in the work of the European Commission to create a safer and sounder financial system, to improve protection for bank account holders and to create a Banking Union. Since 2015 she has been leading a JRC project on societal resilience.
