
The JRC's unit on algorithmic transparency is looking for an AI researcher to join the team’s science for policy activities on human behaviour and machine intelligence, with a focus on recent developments in AI and recommender systems and addressing minor protection and other societal impacts.
Applicants should be interested in supporting EU AI policies, with a focus on system-centric and user-centric AI auditing and evaluation (e.g., benchmarking, red-teaming, user studies) and trustworthy AI (fairness, transparency, human oversight and social and environmental impact).
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of modern AI systems and models, including AI systems for content recommendation and information retrieval, as well as general-purpose AI models, generative AI and large language models.
Furthermore the following experience and skills are essential:
- A PhD or alternatively a university degree and at least 3 years of relevant research experience in artificial intelligence-related topics.
- Research expertise in topics linked to AI evaluation, with a focus on trustworthy AI (transparency, fairness, human oversight, societal impact) in the context of minor protection and other societal impacts.
- Practical experience in system-centric or human-centric AI evaluation in the context of machine learning and deep learning models, in domains linked to recommender systems and generative AI.
Very good (C1 level) knowledge of English.
